Crime Statistics

Crime on the UM campus is extremely rare, but when incidents occur, they are tracked and reported to the United States Department of Education.

Criminal offenses reported in these crime statistics include offenses reported to the University of Montevallo Police Department, City of Montevallo Police Department, and University of Montevallo officials who have responsibilities for student residence halls and campus activities.

Jeanne Clery Act

The University of Montevallo prepares a report on campus security and crime in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act.

The Clery Act requires colleges and universities:

  • to publish an Annual Security Report (ASR)
  • to have a public crime log
  • to disclose crime statistics for incidents that occur on campus, in unobstructed public areas immediately adjacent to or running through the campus, and at certain non-campus facilities including Greek housing and remote classrooms.
